Whether it is globalization, corruption and violence, international conflict and cooperation, democracy and authoritarianism, or some other topic that interests you, our faculty offer courses that will satisfy your curiosity and nourish your mind.

V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University is very excited to announce we will be offering the highly demanded sociology courses during the summer of 2013.

All the courses are taught in English and run by PhD professors at our School of Sociology.

Over 8 intensive weeks, you will attend 64 hours of classes where you will take an in-depth look at the modern society, economic and political landscape of the EU and the former Soviet Union, learn about the issues relating to international affairs and international survey.

The course is ideal for students studying international relations, sociology, history and politics. Also the courses might be appropriate for business students with an interest in the European Union, or the former Soviet Union.

You can choose one or two from the following courses:

  • Social Stratification and Social Inequalities in Modern Societies (64 hours, 8 hours per week, 4 credits).
  • Globalization and Social Change (64 hours, 8 hours per week, 4 credits).

As another option and valuable combination for your summer program there are psychology courses to choose from.

The psychology courses are intended to familiarize you with the concepts and ideas of modern scientific psychology. Through lectures, interactive meetings, group discussions and practical workshops, it will provide you with in depth knowledge on selected topics within the field of general and social psychology (positive, cognitive, behavioral psychology) and give students hands on experience with some of the different psychology intervention techniques.

You can pick up one or two from the offered ones:

  • Eco-Humanistic Self-Development (64 hours, 8 hours per week, 4 credits).
  • Psychology of International Relationships (64 hours, 8 hours per week, 4 credits).
  • Psychology of Leadership (64 hours, 8 hours per week, 4 credits).



ACCOMMODATION

You will be accommodated in home stay, giving you a chance to practice your Russian in day-to-day situations and experience life in a Russian/Ukrainian household. This part of the summer school is really about being immersed in the foreign culture.

Breakfast and dinner are included. You will be absorbed in Slavic hospitality and a friendly environment.

The home stays are within the walking distance or 20 minutes by public transportation.
